Summer holidays in the Dolomites ... between two valleys, Val Isarco and Val Gardena.
In Spring, when the cherry trees blossom in Val Isarco, the walking season begins on the lower slopes. In summer the Dolomites, a Unesco World Heritage Site, are ideal for excursions on the high mountain trails. And in autumn the mild sunlit days are perfect for long country rambles, best of all when they end with a traditional Törggelen feast in Val Isarco.
Whether you prefer touring in the mountains, hiking, climbing or mountain-biking, the choice of activities is practically endless. You can walk the old Postman's Path from Laion to Ortisei, or the Troi Paian, a historic route connecting Val Isarco with Laion and Passo Gardena; take an excursion among the high pastures of Rasciesa or Siusi, or explore the footpaths of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, the Sella and Sassolungo...
You might decide to test yourself on the Col de Flam high-wire adventure course at Ortisei, or ride a racing bike along the Giro d'Italia route through the Dolomite passes. You may be a passionate flyer of model aeroplanes, in which case the sunlit slopes of St Peter and Ceves provide ideal conditions.
A wealth of cultural treasures also awaits you: the Trostburg fortress at Ponte Gardena, the cathedral town of Bressanone, the monastery of Novacella, the costumed festivals of Val Gardena, the traditional wood-sculptors' workshops of Ortisei. Well worth a visit too are the artists' town of Chiusa, Sabiona monastery, and Bolzano, the provincial capital.
